Be Bulletproof in 2009!
To be a gay or lesbian Christian these days, you have to have a bulletproof faith.
As Archbishop Desmond Tutu noted in his endorsement of the book: "Gay and lesbian Christians are constantly demoralized and told they are not children of God. Bulletproof Faith reassures gays and lesbians that God loves them just as they were created and teaches them how to stand strong, with compassion and gentleness, against those who condemn them."
Bulletproof Faith: A Spiritual Survival Guide for Gay and Lesbian Christians, published by Jossey-Bass, helps readers reclaim the spiritual self that criticism from society and religion has led them to give up. Instead of arguing over biblical texts, Bulletproof Faith helps GLBT people live authentically into their faith despite criticism.
Bulletproof Faith was recently named one of the best spiritual books of 2008 by Spirituality and Practice. Find out why! Order your copy today.

"Show me Your ways, O Lord," says our Scripture verse for this issue. Though a good many Bible-beaters will never be persuaded otherwise, these crazy, screaming, riotously-fun Mercury games were the way God used - I am fully convinced - to show me, at long last, who I really am.
Where Are You Going?

Sometimes I will pick up a book and there will be the plan God has for me just awaiting my attention. Other times I find it in Scripture, or in a meditation or even a novel. But one thing I do know - if I am ready to listen, God will speak, and speak so clearly that there is no mistaking that direction.
Stop Supporting Religious Prejudice
By: Bob Minor
Let's stop treating religious institutions, beliefs, and attitudes that promote peoples' prejudices as if they are sacred and beyond protest. Let's stop letting people wield crosses, books, and other religious symbols to silence our voices.
Three Reasons to not Oppose Same-Sex Marriage
By: Richard Molling
Many people have very strong emotional feelings about gay or same-sex marriage and strident rhetoric is often the result of venting those feelings. Rather than succumbing to my feelings, this article is my attempt to prompt others to engage in a logical thought process with a focus on reason, while maintaining an open mind and an open heart.

He is Risen!
"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

What do we mean when we say Christ is Risen? Is it important for us to believe in a literal, physical resurrection or can we believe in a spiritual resurrection? Will we eject other believers from the fold if they don't believe as we do? Can there be a diversity of belief among God's children?
What do we mean when we say, "He is risen"? What does it mean to believe in a resurrected Lord? How does this affect how we live? How does this affect how we believe?
We'll explore these questions and more in the March/April 2009 issue of Whosoever. If you would like to write on this topic, or any other topic, please send an email to the editor.
